We have officially stumbled upon March, and you know what that means! We are getting closer to spring time! We are literally oozing with excitement because spring means warmer weather! Warmer weather means it’s almost time to bust out the shorts, tanks, and flip flops! Show us the skin!
With the thought of cute summer dresses and rompers just around the corner, be honest, how tired are you of shaving your legs? How frustrated do you get with your underarms? We get it! It can be an absolute chore!
What if you could have smooth, silky legs all the time? What if you didn’t have to worry about the shadow on your underarms from shaving, or tiny ingrown hairs causing irritation? What if you didn’t have to deal with razor burn, bumps, or redness from shaving and waxing? What if you could even have a smooth bikini area, and could cancel the extra-long shower to shave or that painful wax appointment scheduled next week? Imagine the time and money you can save! Well, it’s possible with laser hair removal.
In this blog post, we’re talking about laser hair removal and answering some of the most common questions we get about the procedure. So, if you’re ready for a convenient solution to get rid of your unwanted hair, you’re going to find this blog post very helpful!
We see clients in our med spa around this time of year that are considering laser hair removal but aren’t sure what all the process entails, and how it can be different from other hair removal options like waxing. We thought this would be the perfect month to discuss this popular treatment!
If you have unwanted hair and are considering this treatment, you may be wondering how laser hair removal works. How can a laser get rid of pesky hair anyway? Well, laser hair removal works by exposing the hair follicle to pulses of laser light, destroying the hair follicle at the root.
This works when the laser emits a light that is absorbed by the pigment in the hair. The light energy is converted to heat, which damages the hair follicles that produce hairs. This damage will then stop or delay future hair growth.
We get this question all the time! Everyone wants to know, does it hurt? Well, we know how to minimize any discomfort! Plus, most clients report to us that it feels like a flicking of a rubber band and is a very mild discomfort. Before we begin your laser hair removal session, we may apply a numbing gel to the treatment area. We will give you protective eyewear, and your skin will be held tight as we treat the area with our high-powered laser.
What happens next is the hair follicles will absorb the light from the laser, and this will eliminate the hair.
You should know that you may see some redness or swelling after your treatment. As far as recovery goes, it’s very minimal and you should be able to return to work or your regular activities right away.
It’s important to note that you should avoid unprotected or prolonged sun exposure before and in between treatment sessions. When you come in for consultation, we will go over all of the important notes so you can prepare for the procedure as well. We are also available to answer any questions you might have, so give us a call.
That’s right, other areas can be done besides just your legs, underarms, and bikini area. You would be surprised at some of the areas unwanted hair can pop up, that laser hair removal can get rid of. Clients with unwanted hair can receive laser hair removal in a variety of areas, such as the face, neck, shoulders, back, and arms! Yes you read that right, we can use laser hair removal on the face. No more waxing and plucking because your upper lip, sideburns and chin can all be great areas to treat with laser hair removal.
This is a great question! There are definitely some factors to consider when it comes to getting laser hair removal. Here are some things to consider:
Because the lasers target the color of the hair follicle, candidates who have dark hair and light skin are ideal. With that being said though, there have been a lot of technological advancements that now make it possible to treat clients with lighter hair and fair or dark skin as well.
Our clients seem to think so! It’s true, laser hair removal can save you lots of time and money in the long term.
This is a great question. As with any treatment, results will vary from person to person. Like we mentioned above, results will depend on hair color, texture and skin tone. We will be able to give our opinion during your consultation.
The great news is, with laser hair removal, after just one treatment you can see an immediate reduction in visible hair. After your final treatment session, you can enjoy smooth, virtually hair-free skin for several months to a year. Although regrowth is bound to happen at some point, any regrowth you see will be finer, lighter, and of course there will be less hair overall. Also, an important part of laser hair removal is timing procedures with the growing phases for your hair. Your hair actually has 3 different phases of growing, and we want to target the hair during the growth phase. This means treatment times are scheduled 4,6,8 and 10 weeks apart depending on the area treated.
You also might be wondering how many treatment sessions you will need. While it’s different for everyone, most clients require a total of five to eight treatment sessions. You can also combine your procedure with other services we offer. Don’t worry, during your consultation with us, we’ll be able to give you a good idea of how many treatment sessions we recommend for you.
If you’re ready for smoother skin and less hassles with unwanted hair, call us today and we will absolutely answer any of your questions. You will be able to schedule a laser hair removal consultation at one of our 4 Upstate South Carolina locations. At our Back to 30 Med Spa, you can feel rest assured that prior to any treatment, you will be able to meet with a member of our highly trained team to discuss your goals.
Have you ever used a product with retinol? What is retinol anyway? Well, retinol is a type of retinoid which is made from vitamin A. Retinol is different from other products because instead of removing dead skin cells, small molecules that make up the retinol go deep beneath the outer layer of the skin.
Retinol stimulates collagen production which speeds up skin turnover. This helps to smooth fine lines and wrinkles. It can also help to fade acne marks, discoloration, and blemishes. You will find retinol is a key ingredient in many anti-aging products out there.
This month we wanted to talk about a product by SkinMedica we are loving for those who are looking for a great retinol product. The product is called Retinol Complex and can be purchased using Alle Points.
Retinol Complex is a great product to enhance skin tone, texture, and resiliency. It also diminishes the appearance of fine lines and coarse wrinkles, and is encapsulated with PhytoShield™ Complex, an antioxidant complex, enhancing skin texture and minimizing irritation.
This product is easy to use and can be applied to the entire face in the evening after cleansing and toning. You will want to apply it before applying your moisturizer. If you’ve never used a retinol product before, you will want to begin slower and gradually increase frequency of use. Be sure to ask us when you mention Retinol Complex and we can walk you through how to use it.
Caution
Do not use if you are pregnant, lactating or planning to become pregnant. Mild redness, peeling and irritation are expected when using this product. Use a daily sun protection with SPF 30 or higher and limit sun exposure while using this product and for a week following discontinuation.
